Beginner corals for Nano tank

Hi,

I have 25 gallon tank, 9 weeks old all perimeters are within the correct limits as well.

A few questions,

When can you start adding corals
Secondary what are the best corals to purchase as beginner


It would nice to have a mix of different heights, colours and movement in the water with the flow.

Lot's of advice out there. When I started I watched many videos and read many articles. Most seem to agree with each other and that builds confidence.

I have a newly started nano tank that I want to be very easy to maintain, and I have added sinularia leather, and green star polyps. I might also get zoas, and/or corallimporphs. These are all easy stuff. Clove polyps get recommended often as well, as do toadstool leathers.

What are the tank dimensions?
What type of rocks do you have?
Are they stacked in a mound? In arches? Islands?
Barebottom or sand bed? How much sand bed space?
What lights are you using?
By correct parameter limits, what do you mean, because "correct" varies a lot person to person?
Do you already have fish? If so how many?
Do you have algae growing?
Are you dosing your tank with anything?

When to start adding corals is subjective and based on a lot of factors. I will tell you start loading them up in day 1 if using live rock. Others will say wait months.

Great beginner corals:

Softies -
Branching GSP (a bit easier to control than matting GSP)
Zoanthids/palythoas
Rhodactis mushrooms
Fuzzy mushrooms

LPS -
Duncan
Caulastrea (trumpet/candy cane)

SPS -
Birdsnest
Stylophora
Montipora cap
Montipora digitata

Anemones -
Rock flower anemones aka RFAs


Things to avoid or take precautions:
- Kenya trees, pulsing xenia, matting GSP and certain clove polyps can overrun your tank if not controlled/isolated
- certain Pocciliopora can reproduce by budding and spread to plague proportions
- Certain Discosoma mushrooms can fly around your tank and become uncintrollable
- Encrusting LPS and SPS should be carefully planned as they can grow into other corals and start coral warfare

i used to have a nano tank before, it was a 25L tank, i would try starting from Zoa/soft LPS->Euphyllia paradivisa/Euphyllia paranchora->Euphyllia glabrescens->Goniopora djiboutiensis->Montipora->Acropora

each i would take a look at least 2-3weeks to see whether they are happy or not.

Thank you for the recommendations.

I am currently lights out, and have used Caribsea life rock and their live sand.

Possibly thinking a might leave it another 4 weeks before I look to add corals

I currently have 2 clowns, royal gramma and pistol shrimp
With some cuc as well
