Hi I have a 55 gal tank with ample amount of filters and stuff so I was wondering what would be some really good beginning fish for my future reef tank(still cycling) I really want clowns but what are some really good ones

clowns a pretty easy. The go to is Damsel fish, but the problem is that most can be very aggressive. Chromis are good like blue-green chromis.

Hi, I'm a beginner too! I've had my 55 gal tank set up for about three months now. For the first month all I had in my tank was live rock and live sand. After I checked all of my levels and they were all where they needed to be I bought a damsel. They are fairly cheap (so your heart and your wallet aren't broken if it dies[emoji4]) and they get along with all kinds of other fish so if it lives you can add the other kinds of fish that you really want in your tank. Needless to say, my damsel lived and after about three weeks I started adding other fish. In addition to my damsel, I now have two clowns, a flame angel, a long-nosed hawk fish, a powder blue tang, a cleaner shrimp, and a black and white heniochus.

I think a blenny would be nice. Bicolor and midas blennies are very hardy. Only get one of them bc they can be territorial. A rainsford goby is very pretty also. also a pair of bengaii cardnial fish are exxquisite looking and hardy as well. Good Luck!

If you are going for a peaceful tank, I would avoid damsels. Damsels are very pretty fish but can terrorize some of your other fish. As @john.m.cole3 said a blenny would be nice. The midas or bicolor he mentioned would swim in the mid portion of your tank. Hawkfish perch and are entertaining. Check out the longnose hawk that @Shelby Rose suggested or a chubby flame hawkfish. Look @ gobies to add a bottom dweller! Some R2R members have a Wheeler's Shrimp goby. Every time I see a photo of a Wheeler's , I want one!
Look @Live Aquaria for pics of any suggestions. It will give detailed info on requirements too ( feeding, temperament etc).
Before adding more fish post your "wish list" or stocking list. R2R members will check it and also advise you on the order of which fish to add 1st (or last) on your list.
