Hi i have a nano tank set up that I am hoping to turn into a reef tank. It is 5 gallons fully cycled and has been set up for 2 months. It is my first saltwater tank, what types of coral would you recommend?

Welcome to R2R.

First saltwater tank, start out by taking your time and adding things very slowly. I'd recommend soft corals to start, zoas can be crazy colorful, very hearty and inexpensive. Many/most of them fluoresce well under blue lighting as well.

Second, a 5g tank is potentially very easy to over do any change compared to big tanks, so water parameter stability is of supreme importance.

Good luck

I would for the LPS/soft corals many of which are easy to look after like Green Star polyps although it spreads, but it’s one of my favourites as it is very colourful and moves in the water.

You need to maintain stable water parameters for corals and it’s much harder in smaller systems to avoid large swings and the corals will tell you if their not happy.

And welcome to R2R as well!
