So I’m going to be starting with coral pretty soon and would like to know what would be good for a 24g cube. I was thinking getting a single Nero 3. Though I don’t think I want an echotech, they seem overkill for a small tank because of the price. Any opinions on the Nero, and where should I place it? I have plans for starting with soft and working up. Thanks for your help

Each tank will be different due to scape. I would almost always recommend 2 wavemakers on any tank simply because it's easier to create flow patterns that hit every part of the tank. But if you can keep your aquascape "airy" in a 24 gallon 1 might be enough, though I'd probably say a gyre would be better for this task than a standard wavemaker, since it's a wider flow pattern.

What gyre would you recommend? I looked into them but quickly stopped because I thought I was for longer tanks. I would prefer single power head because of maintenance.

They can be used on any tank. Get the one you can afford that has good adjustable flow... Maxspect Jump line comes to mind. You won't have to run it at full speed, probably more like 30-50% in such a small tank.
