Thought I would share a little about myself and my new dream. I have successfully had fresh water fish over the last 40 years. I have had a pair of fresh water Angel fish that were very good parents and was able to experience and help them raise hundreds of babies over several years before we moved and I gave them to a friend. I currently just have a smaller (30g) hex tank with fresh water fish and plants, but my desire is to begin setting up a reef tank. I have always wanted to get into saltwater but knew I needed to wait until I had the time to do it right. I have spent the last month or so just doing nothing but research and reading a great number of blogs - almost overwhelming as there is so much data out there.
I have decided on a waterbox 130.4 for my tank. But before I make the purchase, I have been working on a list of everything I need to go with it and learn as much as I can about everything. Actually the biggest delay - I am also still working on my wife's approval in beginning such an expensive hobby. She has a large list of other projects she feels could be completed before beginning. This delay has actually provided much more time for me to educate myself and research everything before jumping in. For my first project I am going to begin the setup of an RO/DI system with a small quarantine tank etc. in a storage room directly below where I would place the main tank in our great room. I hope to work with a friend who is a retired plumber to help me with this first project. The moment I get far enough along and have specific questions or have pictures and details of the build I will share them.
I just wanted to introduce myself (I am Bruce btw). I look forward to getting to know more of you soon.
