Hi guys, I have a almost 4 month old nano tank and started seeing some pinkish hair like algae showing up on the substrate. My parameters are near perfect in my opinion so I'm not sure if this is cyano or not. Could this be a cyano cycle that the tank is going through and I should not worry about or do i start taking steps to treat?

I removed some the substrate that had this unknown algae to check if it was slimy but from what I could tell it was not.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My .02 Cyano is growing due to dead spots. Increase flow and chuck out the sand. Wait. Reverse that :)

Just a guess. You have not vacuumed your sand yet or in a long time?

That would be correct since I have not done water changes in order to raise my nitrates.

Nitrates are concentrating where you see the cyano.

Options are - vacuum sand, ditch sand, increase flow, wc's, lights out, meds, ect.

Best options IMO are what suits your reef keeping best. For me, ditch the sand and crank the wave pumps.
