Anyone out there that has experience with this fish??

Research indicates that it's peaceful with most fish except, potentially, other swallowtail angels - and that it will not nip corals, but I want the real scoop... is this true??

I purchased her to replace a lemon peel angel who I plan to relocate to a different tank (likes my corals too much!)

She is being acclimated for QT.

Her tankmates are mostly peaceful. She will be with 2 dwarf angels and 1 pigmy angel - all which will not reach her size. Now before anyone gets upset that I have this many Angelfish, I have a huge tank, have never had much aggression amongst them even though they were all added at different times, and have places for relocating fish should any cause problems (like my recent experience with a flame hawk!)

I just want to make to make an informed decision as to where she should go once she's done QT. My plan is my large display tank, but I do have expensive meat corals and LPS that I'd like to keep healthy... (hence why I'm removing the lemon peel to begin with).

Genicanthus is the best fish ever. The bellus are my favorite, especially if they develop the red stripe on their bellies. If the bellus changes from female to male, they get into this super ugly phase, but otherwise they're great haha.

They don't nip or graze, ever. They completely consume food in the water column. They are perfect for anthias dominated tanks, because they have the same type of feeding needs.

They're like anthias, except they swim like angels (bobbing in and out of crevices and do laps around the tank).

When I kept bellus, the biggest problem was they often had swim bladder issues. So finding one without that was tough. But now you can find them at any LFS in great condition. I lost mine due to Ich back in the day. Killed my whole tank. That was 5 or 6 years ago now. I'm back in the hobby, but not sure if my small tank will hold a bellus for long...

Be sure to feed the bellus a lot. Just like you would an anthia.

Here's mine from 2008!

Yes, they are perfect reef tank inhabitants. They do not bother coral. They are reef safe, not reef safe with caution as most of the small angels.

One of my favorite fish. I have never had a problem with nipping coral. They will develop beautiful streamers too. Great choice for a reef tank.
If she stays female, will she still get the streamers, or only if she turns male?? I'm patiently waiting for my naso to get them - I think he is a he ;-)

Hope this will help
That's so awesome! It seems as though I made a good decision in my replacement Angelfish!

Sorry for the slow response. Busy girl today! Setting up a 105g QT system, so I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I'm impressed that you were able to get your purple tangs to get along. My PT hates everyone lol
