UPC got tested today, lost power for 2 hrs. Still had 30% left to go. So I'm happy with that, running my return. We do have a generator that I was getting ready to hookup. Then the power was restored.

Had to chop the tips off this acro, it wasn't doing so hot.

So I have some micro frags for now. I'll see how these do befor getting anything else.

I Still don't have my doser set up. Need to get off my but and do a few things. I still don't have a container for dosing. Should figure that out soon.

Actually went out of my way and spent some time enjoying the tank this week. I didn't realize how much aiptansia starting popping up. Spent the last 30 min putting kalk paste over everyone I could find. Must have been a dozen or so. I've never had much luck killing them in the past. If the kalk doesn't work I'll have to go a different route.

Tested my water today, my nitrates and phosphates bottomed out. Thinking of pulling my skimmer and seeing if I can't raise them without dosing. My frags from a frag seem to be dying to from the bottom again.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of fish to add also. Focusing on keeping nitrates stable.

Well I took the skimmer offline today. I believe it was implemented to early or is way to big for my tank. Most likely both. My nitrates are 0 when I'm not dosing. I dosed them slowly back to 5 and will monitor it carefully until I get ahold of it.

I believe nitrates and phosphates being low is why I'm not able to keep corals atm.
I think the skimmer was pulling to much out is my theory.

I did buy this skimmer knowing it was to big. But I took the chance with hopes of using it on a bigger tank in the future.

I honestly have zero interest in upgrading this tank until I can get it rocking for a few years.

@BeMoto From what I have seen I believe that is a really big skimmer too. What do you think of it other than being too big? As far as other features? Do you have other skimmers in mind?

The skimmer is very well built and easy to tune. I honestly didn't play with it much once setup. I really like how easy it is to clean and the built in float switch. Also like the collection cup didn't have to be unscrewed like my last skimmer cup.

I've been looking at Nyos Quantum 120 or Red Sea RSK 300.

Been fighting dinos for a long time now. I believe it's because of my nutrient being 0 for so long. It for some reason has taken over my tank 2 weeks ago.

I've since raised nitrates to 5. Phosphates are still 0. Been dosing for phosphates and still can't get a reading. Going to increase dosing and try a new test kit. My current one is over a year old. Been feeding real heavy as well in hopes to bring up P04.

Aptasia is also killing me. It everywhere, I keep covering it up with kalk paste but then new ones come up in different spots. I even get new aptasia on my glass sometimes. It becoming very frustrating.

@BeMoto first of all your video doesn’t work. I don’t think I’ve ever had dinos although I can say this. Have you heard of the Moonshiner’s Method? It’s taking a foothold in the hobby and I’m considering it. To increase phosphate they add Spirulina powder. I’ve read Brightwell’s NeoPhos also works well. They have a recipe for increasing a known volume of water’s phosphate concentration by adding X amount of the additive.

I've looked into the moonshine method. If I remember right it's alot like triton method. Alot of ICP testing and adding there products afterwards. If ICP testing didn't cost so much I would be more interested in it.

I have been dosing brightwells NeoPhos. I've been adding it slowly. I followed the directions before and it jumped up way higher than expected. Trying to avoid that this time.

Got a sample of my dinoflagellates looked at. Here is what we found. Might also have chysophyte as well. Still looking into that.

Might end up getting a uv to get rid of these dinoflagellates. Still not able to detect phosphates. Been dosing NeoPhos for the last 2 weeks. Nitrates have been stable @ 4.

Going to add this pentair 25 watt smart uv to help combat dinos.

I'm leaning on mounting it vertical behind the left side of the tank. Planning on making my own mounts at work out of a plastic material called delrin.

As for the rest of the plumbing I looking into this below. I'll have a submerged pump in the sump. Also won't have a check valve, the return will be at the surface of the tank.
