Bengai try #2 with egg rocker

I cut a sock and put that on there to try and keep the light out, also decreased the airflow, Now with that being said it looks like there maybe some algae growing on them already.

When i see it done with fw eggs they are tumbling around quite a bit....dont know if itd be too much for them.

Tried that the first time, don't know if it was a mix from the light, or to much tumbling and it hurt the eggs. I know I had 2 that hatched and it separated the body from the yoke. With the eggs actually being part of a row, it is hard to get movement, then when they hatch and separate you don't want to tumble them to hard, all trial and error right now I guess.

I tried this for months a few years back, I even have the same rocker from cobalt. I had no problem raising african cichlids with tumblers. I could never get the bangaiis to survive. Towards the end of my attempts with this I would let he fish hold for over a week then strip the eggs. It made no effect. I failed.

I will be following this thread, keep it going and gl.

I don’t like that kind of tumbler. Try use one similar used on the biopellets with little flow, just enough flow to keep them in water suspension.

My buddy told me to maybe take a toothpick and split the eggs, might lose a few but at least I can get them separated to tumble

At the moment I’m not breeding banghai and I can’t find the tumbler but I found this online and is very similar that I used. This is perfect. You can control the flow and this is perfect to keep the eggs clean and with enough oxygen. https://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/egg_tumbler_2.php

Don’t try to separate them. You can damage the fry

Here they are now, looks like a few of them are starting to die

But.... If, they are together, and I keep losing the whole fry, and separating them and only losing half the fry and being able to tumble them.... No? Not to sure

OK, so here is where they are at now, I just cleaned the algae off the inside and out. I see some have separated so I lowered the flow so they don't get beat up.
