Benggai Cardinal behavior

I have three fairly small cardinals. Two are paired and they ostracize the third (the smallest), keeping him at a distance, chasing him away when food is introduced, etc.

I was hoping they would school more. If I placed more in the tank, would there be more species cohesion or would they just break up into more factions?

Generally adult boned pairs won't tolerate others. Rehome the third.

I am not sure what would happen if you put more, but if you do nothing, your small ostracized cardinal will probably die from stress. It happened to me.
