Benny Food and Diet

I have a lawnmower blenny who seems to be slowly withering away. This will be my second in a year whom both seem to starve. All other fish are very healthy.

He only pecks at algae on the glass. But there really isn’t much on the glass. I do however have plenty of GHA everywhere.

I have tried nori, fish food pellets, frozen food, and he won’t touch it.

I have read that they are primarily detritavors and herbavors.

What do you feed your blenny’s?

No I have not.

I don't have a lawnmower blenny, but some form of algae eating blenny.

Loves bloodworms and frozen mysis. Always grazing on the rocks, glass and anything she can reach really.

Mine really liked ocean nutrition prime reef flakes. You could also try some diy food and diced it into tiny pieces (such as shrimp, scallop, tilapia, etc.)

Can you give a full tank shot?

They wont eat long gha. You may have to scrub off the long patches. Once you take care of that, they'll keep it from growing back. I am also hoping he doesn't have internal parasites. If he isn't taking prepared foods, you'll need to place in a hospital tank and medicate the water.

Algae blennys are piglets. They are worse than tangs. This could be an internal issue or maybe tank aggression?

My guess is on internal parasites. I don't know if algae blennies are bred in captivity. Could be capture issues as well, perhaps injured sometime during transport.
