hello!
new here and thought i'd post some current tank shots. this system filled fresh on january 3rd of this year using all dead rock and sand in an effort to keep it sterile and pest-free. the coralline really started to take off at about the 6 month mark, and now most of the rock is covered nicely. since the tank is very young, most of the corals are just frags.
the tank is a ~200g custom-sized display measuring 80x24x25 and has a starfire front. it is built in-wall with a full fish room behind the tank. i use two vortechs, a wavebox, and a very open rockwork structure to provide flow to all parts of the tank. behind the tank i have about another 200g worth of system volume. i have a 100g stock tank main sump, a 50g stock tank mostly full of sand and liverock to eventually act as a cryptic zone, and another 50g stock tank that is part of the system which i use for water changes. this makes water changes very easy, as i simply turn two ball valves to do a 50g water change.
some equipment pics:
one last picture, this one shows the back side of the rock work. there is a channel down the back of the tank behind the rockwork for the wavebox to fire down. this also allows me to easily access the space behind the rocks, allowing me to blow the back side of the rocks off with a powerhead to keep everything clean.
