I know another aiptasia...but my tank has become literally littered with them know and I am very frustrated. I have successfully used an aiptasia eating file fish in the past, but they are getting hard to find now and are somewhat hard to acclimate to eat the aiptasia.

To that end, I am looking for a good source to purchase some Berghai nudibranchs. I would like to try this route and if that fails I will fall back on purchasing another file fish.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

you are better off with the nudibranchs if you can find them. Fish are usualy a hit or miss and some fish that are a sure hit might as well gobble up your polyps. I have a copperband butterfly and he does not touch a single aiptasia...my peppermints did not touch them either (they were real peppermint, not cammel).

So since you got that problem and fish are not a sure solution, I would go with the nudibranches because they don't eat anything else, they are sure to do the job. Once you're done and you nudibranches are starving, send them to me :)

I got mine from Salty Underground. Coral for Sale: Berghia Nudibranch and Colorful live Corals for Sale I've ordered Berghia from them twice and both times everything arrived in perfect condition. They offer a couple of different sizes, I would recommend paying the little bit more and getting the bigger ones.

You will have to be patient, especially if you have a particularly large Aiptasia outbreak, because it won't look like anything is happening for a few weeks. Then all of a sudden you will notice that some of your aiptasia begin to disappear. They totally erradicated my infestation. I think if I remember correctly I ordered a total of 15 for my 120G.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing this with me. One quick questions; how do you keep them from get sucked up by the external overflow, etc?

A few of mine ended up there. The overflow is where my aiptasia outbreak began in the first place, then spread throughout the entire tank. I'm pretty sure the Berghia were drawn there because of the lack of light during the day and the plentiful food.
I have a filter sock in my sump that the water first drains into. I usually change the sock out once a week. I had to inspect the sock for Nudi's before tossing it into the wash pile. I just happend to look in one of them while I was changing it and noticed what looked like a Nudi. Sure enough, it was. You have to be very careful when handling them because they are so fragile. I ended up cutting up my filter sock to rescue the little guy. I think I saved 3 of them this way. That's the only way I could think of to save them. If there are Aiptasia in your overflow that you can bet the Berghia will go in there.

Thx everyone....if anyone has any other sources that would be great too.

aren't burghai nudibranchs expensive? Any other (less expensive) sources? I have found my tank is infested now too :(

They aint cheap, and you have to be careful acclimating them. Quite fragile compared to fish and corals. If can find a healthy CBB with a taste for aiptasia, the easiest route I know of.

Inland Aquatics in Terre Haute Indiana sells them. Product "Call us for ordering and priceing 812-232-9000". Our club has visited there several times and it is a great mariculture facility with an exceptionally helpful owner. The price may be higher but shipping could be less if they are closer to NY.

Thanks for that info.....I will be sure to give them a call to check out their pricing and availability.
