My tank has an outbreak of Aptasia. I believe it started from using Aptasia-X, which was successful in killing the big ones on top of the rocks. The ones in the holes and crevices all it did was make them spread. I tried using Peppermint Shrimp last year but they became a snack to my Wrasse soon after adding them. My Copper Band might have eaten some Aptasia at first but no longer.
My last two options were Berghia Nudibranch and a Filefish. I added 10 Berghia of mixed sizes about a month ago and yesterday I added another 6 of the 1/2" Berghia plus some eggs hopefully to speed things along. I was worried at first about the Wrasse, but I noticed he's buried before the lights are off and is the last one out in the morning and the Berghia are nocturnal so I don't think they'll cross paths.
I know the Berghia take time to multiply and eradicate the Aptasia from the tank, and if they don't work I'll try a Filefish next. My question for those that have used them before is how long should I wait before I determine the Berghia were unsuccessful and move on to the Filefish?
This is what I'm dealing with. The other worse spots I couldn't get a clear picture.
There are 3 massive Aptasia in between the Zoas.
