Hi, I just took delivery of a nice Bermuda Rogue HOB skimmer that's going on my 55g reef soon. I have paired it with a Mag 3 pump.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to actually screw the threaded inlet of the skimmer and the threaded inlet of the pump securely together. Or maybe if there's some type of tube that has one threaded portion at least for the pump that might work if it's tight enough over the skimmer's inlet nozzle. The size and weight of the Mag has me worried that it would detach down the road. Any input would be great appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Hey Joe, just use tubing to attach the pump to the skimmer. They are nice hot's, only thing i don't like is the pump hangs in the tank, but other than that they are built like tank's and perform well. It should be a good fit for your 55g.

Cool, I found you Luke, I have read the whole thread on RC and you're all over it. I had tried to PM you there but saw you had moved on.

I agree I wish the pump was contained within the housings like the Deltec's, but I just couldn't justify spending ups to $500 on a Deltec 600 with the Bermuda being much less expensive & feedback being great on it. Your feedback and exp with it were a big factor in me getting one, thank you.

I swore I had read that there's a mod that could be attached that screws into the inlet and the pump, but maybe I'm confused. Someone had posted something like you'll need a 3/4 ____ and you can get it at like Home Depot, but they didn't go into specifics.

Joe, you need to get a plastic fitting for the tubing. There are metal clamp's you get at lowe's that tighten hose. You screw them to tighten up. There are also plastic one's like this now that are saltwater safe. You need to use one on the pump and one on the rogue fitting.
