I am still fairly new to hobby but i have plans to upgrade in 8-12 months. I’d love some help getting a game plan together.

I’d love to do bigger but i feel like a 125 is big enough for a while haha..

I’d like to get a 125 gallon or 139 gallon tank. I’m trying to look around but I’m having trouble finding them? Anyone have one? If so what brand? Opinions on it?

Should i get an all in one or attempt to build some stuff and wing it?

What about maintenance cost or utility costs?

Sorry for so many questions but I’d just like a few opinions.

You might find 125's to 150's used. Look on craigslist or your local salt/fresh water fish forums. Deals on whole set ups can be found for bargin prices.

I would get a tank and sump if going that big. Doing some work yourself will save money. Such as building your own sump out of a used or $1.00 per gallon petsmart sale tank.

Yes there are costs. Bigger usually means greater cost all around. IE Honda civic vs Mercedes 450

Hello. In my opinion there is not any best tank....the tank you like it's best if it's god build and the size you like. When i upgrade my tank from 40g to 125g i was searching for a god build size, with god quality glass (optiwhite in my case) and with the size that i want. other request was to be ready for sump, with all pipes, overflow box, etc, included. That to don't have any headache with drilling holes.
Then everything from RedSea to Elos, Inovative or any custom build tank can be your choice because in end you will chose.
End for sure the best tank it's the one close to your skill level, the one you can take care of and maintain properly.
I tell you that because i'm the one who bought a Ferrrari but i see that it's not easy to drive after....and i'm not the only one :):)

Depends if u r a DIY type of person who likes to tinker with stuff and how much space u have. If space is a premium then I'd recommend AIO (All In One) system but with these u r limited as far as customizing it and livestock. I learned a lot by tinkering w a used reef ready tank that came w a sump. If I had to do it over again, I'd get a SCAquarium PNP Systems which comes w stand, sump, skimmer, pump & delivery. http://www.scaquariums.com/category-s/100.htm
U can watch CJ's Aquarium upgrade 120 gal build thread here and how he customized his. He first started w a JBJ 45 gal AIO system so u can compare AIO vs regular tank.

Personally if you have the money go with Reef Savvy, Red Sea or IM EXT. All of these manufactures have great quality and back their product 100%

Waterbox is another option which the price seems good and no real negative feedback from customers.

I'd steer clear of ELOS since Coral Vue took them over their support is horrible in the US. Not to mention the prices are insane. Frequently there are people selling them often. Not sure if this is related to the cost or the support for parts, etc…..

CAD- the reviews speak for themselves. Don't do it.

As for SCA I had one of their 120gal tanks. For the price it is a great deal The sump is mediocre and the stand is ok. Eventually you would most likely want to upgrade. As for the quality of the build and the glass it is below average. These tanks are rushed with several known issues with the seems and overflows. Both their pumps and skimmers are cheap which usually the pumps only last roughly 6mo. If you go with one of their tanks I would buy just the tank and source everything else. You wont find a cheaper tank.
