Setting up a 40 breeder. Already have everything laying around so making a hybrid out of a tek t5. Have room for 2 bulbs, 2 AI primes.

Bulb opinions? (Not for visual but actual spectrum that will encourage growth). I can run primes only when I’m home.

Already have Giesmann tropics, blue plus, coral plus, purple plus bulbs

I was thinking that myself for a true full spectrum. Plenty of blue from led

I currently have an 8 bulb tek and I’m in the process of gathering 4 primes to do the same thing. Interested in how you plan on attaching them. I planned for 4 bulbs, probably 4 blue plus just based on other members of my local club that have done the same with good results. That way I can control the white balance with the leds and probably only run the t5s 5-6 hours a day.

If only two bulbs, I like blue plus and actinic or 2 blue plus.

I’ve never used them and it’s probably not pretty but blue plus and 6500k could be what you’re looking for as far as bringing out colors and growth. At least a lot of old school T5 users have said.

Some type of L bracket attached to prime and either run a flat aluminum bar from there to where t5 sockets once were or straight up through top of light w a bolt and a black cap nut

I was leaning that way. To me that’s going to hit allot of photosynthetic peaks of coral

My first idea was the brackets aqua illumination sells for like $25 a pop and just machine screw through the top. The only issue would be running the wires through the fixture to tie to the other cords

If your putting it inside the t5 then there’s no reason to make it pretty. L bracket and a bolt you can get at Lowe’s/hdepot will do the same thing for less. There is plenty of room to tuck the wires up and over the reflectors in the tekt5 and drill a new hole next to power cords for your prime wires. I’m setting mine up next week so I can take pictures when done. That’s why I’m trying to get ideas on t5 combo now. W only 2 bulbs I’m leaning towards a fuller whiter spectrum to run when I’m not home for growth & coloration and use just led for nighttime view after work.
