I have a mixed coral tank, mostly LPS. I have Kessil lights running on it now. Coral grow but I hear a lot about t5 supplementing LEDs. I would only run them 2-4hrs a day. And I found some cheap 2bulb T5HO fixtures. What bulbs would you recommend if I choose 2 bulbs to supplement the Kessil spectrum.

ATI Blue+ and UV are what I run.

I was thinking about the UV as well.

Since I’m getting such a good deal on these fixtures might add one to my sump as a refugium. What 2 bulb combo would you suggest then?

1 ATI Blue Plus and 1 ATI True Actinic
OR
2 ATI Blue Plus.

Grandis.

Great input everyone thank you. I think I’m seeing a trend here!

I run a blue+ and coral plus to complement my radions.

The result is too whitish for me. Next time I replace them, will probably go with blue+ and uv

I would roll with a Blue+ and Actinic/Purple+ as well.

Currently using 2 Blue+, 1 Coral+ and Actinic on my 4 bulb/Kessil setup.

What color setting are you at or prefer for your Kessils now? Is your purpose to get more growth from your corals, or to reduce shadowing, or ? I run T5s with my Kessils. I use 4 blue plus bulbs. I keep my Kessils at around 30% color, as I don't prefer the "whiter" coloring that some people run. If you prefer a whiter look, I'd recommend one blue plus, one coral plus. If you like a "Windex" blue color, 2 blue plus bulbs. If you want more "pop" / fluorescence, go with a blue plus bulb and throw in an actinic bulb perhaps. I find purple plus bulbs are okay if they are one bulb in a 6 or 8 bulb fixture). Even 2 T5s bulbs will dominate the color of the tank due to their diffuse light. Thus, if you like a really blue color to your tank, you don't want to be running bulbs like an aqua blue special or maybe even a coral plus, as they will give a much whiter coloring to the tank (even at just 2 bulbs)...at least that has been my experience. Hope that helps.
