Hey all!

I'm looking to upgrade my 200g to around a 200g. I have a Waterbox and I think it's overall pretty solid, although I believe the Innovative Marine I also have is slightly nicer. Now, I know WB released their ReefLX line a while back and had a ~300g option, but it's been out of stock for some time.

Are there other manufacturers you would recommend? I like the pricing and completeness of the WB and IM tanks, I'm not looking for a $50k tank at this time... So, within ~$7-8K for the aquarium and stand is where I'm generally at for a budget, as lighting and equipment I'm sure will be a fortune for this thing :)

Thanks all!

Read your first line....lol I do that too!

For a 300g tank, get some custom quotes from at least 2 tank builders.

You had me at Wonderpus by the way:)

I'm in a similar situation. I have a RedSea Reefer 525XL. Overall I think the build is decent and with all the popular plumbing modifications I've got it pretty much tuned in. However, I am just turning into year 3 and the tank is completely stocked. It looks great, but I need more room for coral and swim space.

Here's a few things I've learned so far.:
- I've gotten quotes from 6 manufacturer either via online configuration tools or email. I am interested in a 84"L x 36"W x 20"H. or a 84x30x20 since there are some "off the shelf" models of that dimension. The 6" difference in width equates to roughly $1,600. So play around with the configuration tools to see if there's a dimension you can live with when compared to the price difference.

- The jump from 84" long to 96" means it cannot be delivered directly to your house. Apparently the 96" tank does not fit on the truck's lift gate. Therefore it must be picked up at the freight depot. May not be a big deal for some. Its unknown territory for me so its something I am considering.

- I've always had wood stands, but if I went larger it would be my preference to use metal. Powder coated steel has its benefits but the manufacturer quotes I've seen have been fairly pricey. Not sure if this would appeal to you, but I've been intrigued for the longest time with 80/20 aluminum stands. You get strength, no rusting, and versatility when it comes to adding a skin, or light bar. The configurations are endless, an engineer's dream. Check out framing tech for more info. They responded to me in about an hour for a custom stand quote.

Hope this helps!

@zoa what Thanks for sharing. we truly appreciate the support!

I need to start earning a commission from you.... Set me up a 1099
Love that you feel and share what you do. Thank you.

We love the support. Has been an almost 3 year journey to change, adjust, invest and share the changes at Glasscages. Tons of work. We are flattered that you would consider joining the team.

On a different note....

We dont and haven't paid for a single review since we acquired Glasscages. We dont give free product to anyone for a review on social media either. I have noticed that many companies do. I find this very interesting. What does that do to the messages the consumer receives? Are they real and truthful reviews? Well I feel the truth helps the consumer make the best decision. If all the messaging is influence by free product or by payment, is the message the truth? Hard to say. If I was a consumer, I would want the truth. I would want an uninfluenced truth. We have received many request for product and we share this message.

we want to be a company that is influenced by truthful reviews and feedback, we will humbly listen and adjust the company to serve the best we can. We believe this is best for the consumer. and positive reviews founded in truth let us know we are on the right track.

We take a different approach to our business than what I see other companies doing. Rather than offering discounts to attract attention, we prefer to attract attention by the way we behave, the way we treat customers, the we treat our Glass Cages team. Culture is very important to us and we don’t believe it can be discounted. With that said, when someone is in need, we do help. Working with Glass Cages is intended to be an experience and not a transaction. Hope that makes since.

everyone is welcome for a tour.

yes that was Ben. What a fun day that was.

here is his channel

Here is the visit

and, Ben did buy his tank from Glasscages.

Here it is....

what was funny about this video was, Ben called sharing he needed an aquarium pad and asked if he could take a few pictures when picking up the pad. When he came out he filmed about 2 hours and was with us for about 4 hours. just became a fun day!

I toured the Glasscages factory when I picked up the glass for my build. They are great people and have some really nice tanks at an affordable price. The level of customization is great because you get to have it built just the way you want it. The service and communication is top notch. I am soon going to add a frag tank to my system and there only 1 place I will shop for it. @glasscages

@mehaffydr really appreciate the support. I am really proud of the team. All the thanks goes to them. They are doing a fantastic job serving. Looking forward to supporting you into the future.

Step 1 - message Joe
Step 2 - buy and wait
Step 3 - enjoy your new Glasscages tank!

Seriously, for a 300g and that budget, just go custom and get what you want. Call a few custom tank manufacturers and get some quotes.

I'm around $7k for my tank and stand. It's in my build thread. I could have gone a little cheaper on the stand but went with Chris Benner and his aluminum stands. I could have also gone slightly cheaper on the tank but got almost every option Joe offers.

Speaking of, Joe never once sold me anything. Never tried to upsell or push me in any direction. I was all over the place early on too.
