Hey, I've recently started brs 2 part. I feel I am going to have to dose to much alk. I'm already up to 40ml a day which is 10ml more than their highest starting point. Also it seems my alk might require a higher dose than calc to
Keep both stable and on target. I was told that should not be the case. I'm wondering if there is a better alk test as mine is hard to read. I use the reef foundation pro kit. I heard the hanna alk is unreliable possably due to the reagent. Any suggestions

Ordered the salifert kit hopefully that one will be easier to read Thank you

My preference is a DIY titration. If you already have a pH meter, it will be cheaper, more accurate (or at least not less so) and does not require any subjective color determinations:

But IME, the Salifert and Seachem total alkalinity tests are fine. Others probably are too, but I've not used them (at least not in the past decade).
Thank you Randy I still learn something new from you all the time!

The best one is the newest one! Check the date on the box. As reagents age they lose potency giving us bad readings. I personally use Salifert, but the others are just as good. Randy DIY is similar if you have the time and like DIY stuff.

I use Hanna and think it is the easiest. Nyos seems pretty good and is also easy. Hanna did have a bad batch a little bit ago but I think it's been corrected. That was a while ago I heard about that. I've also used Salifert; and it is reliable, but just takes longer to do...

I currently do a DIY titration, but for a commercial solution, I'm very fond of Salifert for Alkalinity.
