Hey, so for the past 2ish months my tank has been fallow after an ich outbreak which ended up killing all my fish. Now my amphipod population has exploded, I know they are usually helpful but there are just so many of them they are stressing out the coral. So I want some suggestions for fish that would keep down their numbers.
Current stocking is:
1 Blood red fire shrimp
3 Mexican turbo snails
Thanks!

Wrasses such as:
yellow coris
lunare
Melauris

Larger springeri damsel will eat them also

What do you mean "stressing out the coral"? They shouldn't be doing that. Anyways, pretty much any fish will eat them or at least try to. With fish present they will mostly hide during the day.

They can and are, they walk all over the corals and are crawling under the mushrooms and monti's causing them to retract.

I just realized my post looked kinda passive aggressive not trying to put off that tone.

Yeah, theyll make zoas and similar coral close up

Sixline but they can be mean so add last and with other boisterous tank mates.

My gobies always ate pods. It’s how I keep them in check in tiny tanks. Greenbanded goby even tried to eat a nass snail by mistake. Lol

Most fish are not going to turn down a pod meal.

My sixline took care of all my DT pods, amphipods and copepods....I think even the small limpets are gone....but they can be mean.

Great reccomendations here. Id reccomend getting a cover for your tank. I rolled the dice with a cpl wrasse that did fine for a little while but they will eventually decide to go carpet surfing. At least around here.

Interestingly I took the tang out of a tank and suddenly amphipods everywhere. He was hunting them a lot and I saw it a few times but didn't realize just how much of an impact on their numbers and behavior. I have not noticed any effect on corals but if you are then yeah a wrasse is probably your best bet. Maybe a mandarin too though I think they mostly eat the copepods. Small wrasses like pink streak and possums would do great in that tank. Like I said though most fish will have an effect on their behavior even if they aren't hunting them, and most fish will certainly try to hunt them.

I've been wanting a wrasse for a while they are one of my favorite types of fish. But I've been scared that it would eat my shrimp, are they known to eat/attack the fire shrimp?

My clowns in my tank eat them. I honestly feel like this is weird but the female follows the cleaner shrimp around as he rummages through the sand, and pounces on them when one gets disturbed. Just tonight I saw her miss one using this method and it went flying away.

But in any case, once she learned they were there, she began hunting them. She does that pretty much all day.

My clown really acts like a wrasse. She has gotten better at hunting over the years and now she knows all the best spots to "go fishing" where she sits still and pounces when they peak their heads out. It's quite interesting to watch.

I have a cleaner and radiant in a 45 gal tank with a blood shrimp and skunk. Absolutely zero issues.

If you can get your hands on a radiant wrasse, they are stunning

Thanks for the reply! I went to my LFS today, right when they got their delivery of fish and got a young leopard wrasse. I'm planning on upgrading my tank within the next year or so. so tank size won't be an issue.
