^^ yup, very good ato. I'll throw in the Smart ATO as well. Used it for 3 years with no issues other than a rusting issue that coralvue has acknowledged and will replace no questions asked. However my fix is to put aquarium silicone around the seam. 2 years strong no problems
The Smart ATO is also a good choice. I actually started with one and actually liked it a lot. However, the magnet came apart after a couple of years. I had already thrown mine out and jumped to the Tunze before I knew Coralvue would have replaced it.
I run a Neptune ATK to keep my stock RSR 250 ATO full. I like the continuous nature of the gravity fed ATO and use an optical sensor for low sump level to protect against the ATO float valve getting clogged. I like the multiple levels of redundancy in the ATK to prevent overflows.
I only run the ATK once a day as that is enough to keep the ATO full (automated by Apex). Given all the negative reports about the PMUP I am hoping a single longer run once a day will prolong it’s life. 7 months in and so far so good.
Ran a Tunze Osmolator 3155 for years. It’s the most reliable optical eye style ATO systems available with 2 additional layers of failsafes, a backup float switch and a 10 minute pump timer.
That said, I just upgraded to the Spectrapure ULPC-ATO as the dual pressure tube set up requires virtually no maintenance and is more reliable than optical eyes when using kalkwasser, which I will be in conjunction with my calcium reactor.
Has anybody seen the Spectrapure Basic auto top off in use yet? It's about 100 dollar cheaper than the ULPC version, but comes with one pressure tube only and no adjustments (basically a peristaltic pump and the pressure sensor).
I'm trying to decide if I go with Tunze 3155 or the Spectrapure Basic. I'm not using kalkwasser, so both should work fine. I wish the SP Basic had a backup switch or sensor though...
