Best Auto Feeder

Hey! I recently bought an Eheim automatic fish feeder. It works well and spins at certain times throughout the day. You can only put 1 type of food in the container, which may be an issue for some. It is fairly small as well. I use it for African Cichlid pellets.

I don't have one but I had considered buying the Apex feeder and put it off. It's biggest benefit comes if you own Apex with its integration and easy setup. The downside is it sounds like a cheap can opener and its rather large/obtrusive sitting on top your tank. Plus the biggest negative seems to be poor quality and is still buggy and over or under feeds if it works. Add to that the PIA Neptune warranty/support is and I've put it off for maybe a 2nd generation or some other product. Read the reviews it may Neptune's worst product. The sad thing is it's been out at least 2 years and I have not seen any improvements.

I used an Eheim feeder for vacations on my freshwater tank and it worked well. I also have an apex feeder I use on the salt. They both work the same as far as putting food in and adjusting the amount fed. The apex is noisy (but that is not a concern for me), and a bit of a pain in the a** to pull the drum off to refill it (I always feel like I am going to bust it pulling it off with the amount of force required). I bought the apex feeder partly because it saved me one outlet on my apex "energybar", to use for something else. The feeder runs off a usb style cable from the apex controller...and I have a variety of programming options for the feed (return pump off, skimmer off, circ pumps on....delay 60 sec, feed, wait 10 min start return, wait another 10, start skimmer, etc).

Cheers!
