Hey guys I have had my tank for going on 8 months now and I think I am ready to try acropora. I have had a Stylo, birds nest, and montipora growing and doing very well. I was just wondering what the best type of Acro would be a good starter maybe a little pack for a variety. Any recommendations are helpful :)
Parameters

If'n I were you, I'd just grab something that strikes your fancy that fits your price range. Local reefers are the best for this type of thing. This is what I'm doing and I've got 3 acros now, all showing growth, and I'm dumb as hell. :)
Yea honestly from research on YouTube (I know I can’t trust everything on there) it sounds like acropora are hard but not as hard as I originally thought.

Green slimer or stylo… you could try your luck at a birds nest as most will say it’s easy but I’ve had nothing but problems with them myself and I collect mostly acros that are way harder to keep..
I have a Stylo and Birdsnest doing great in my tank. I have heard green slimer is great I just gotta find one because all my lfs are out. Think I’m gonna find a local hobbyist and see if they will trade.

There is no try...only do. hehe. The most I've paid for an acro yet is $10. Given, mine are still all babies, but they seem to be doing well...polyp extension, growth, yadda yadda.

I think the reason they're considered 'hard' (pardon the pun...ha) is because they take time to grow and like consistency. It's easy for you to make it a while and then have some sort of swing in parameters. Softies will roll with the punches, SPS not so much.

Again, not an expert here, and all mine are still babies, but I wouldn't put too much thought into it...you have been in your tank for a while, you want to try it, just don't go to a friggin fish store or online...find a guy across town who is not too concerned about names (WWC Jason Fox Sticky Purple Punge, yo!) and will hook you up.

Tank looks great man :) I will definitely check out my local Facebook group to find someone willing to sell some frags. I live just outside Chicago so I should have lots of options in there.
