Hey guys.. I am setting up at 150 Gallon mixed reef aquarium. Medium Bioload.

I would like some help figuring out which biopellet reactor is the best for this setup:

Choices:

1. JNS Alpha 2
2. Reef Octopus BR110
3. BRS Biopellet reactor
4. AVAST Media Reactor with Biopellet Nozzle (which model? MR5?)
5. Nextreef SMR1
6. RLSS FR-4/FR-8
7. Vertex Rx-U 1.5L or 2.0L ?
8. Reef dynamics 135 Biopellet reactor (i thought it was overpriced though)

Let me know what you guys think.

Please reply if:
1. You have had any bad experiences with any of the reactors.
2. You have experience/ seen more than two reactors on this list
3. Have used any of the reactors on this list long term (3-6 months to a year)

Thank you.

The RD recirculating is the best for the money IMHO. Sicce pump, everything is high quality parts incl. sch80 PVC and its recirculating. It holds it's resale value well too. I have the 135 running on a 250g total volume system and its great( because i dont like to completely strip my nutrients). For your 150g it would be more than enough. It can't be overstated, the value of being able to regulate outflow seperately from the pellet tumble. Good luck choosing.

I also ran a few different brands of reactor's .I called Jeff at reef dynamic . After speaking to him he told me how his reactor works and why I had so many problems with other bio pellet reactor's . In to days world you pay for knowledge . I now have on of his bio pellet reactor's on order .
