I'm just restarting my 40 breeder tank. I had a tunze osmolator 3155, but looks like the controller unit got wet when I took my last setup down and it's not turning on :/

What ATO would you recommend? Looking to not break the bank, I have an auto shut off float already glued to the rim of the tank that I'll be plugging whichever ATO I buy into (so factory backup fail-safe is supercritical).

check out the reefbreeders ato this is what i use and it comes with the pump like the smart ato

Depending on your definition of budget I used the Tunze Nano on my 40 breeder. If you have a Tunze already you could reuse the pump and keep the new pump as a backup, or use the new pump and have the old pump as a backup.

Their are some cheap china made ones. I like the JBJ ATO, used it for years with no issues. Autotopoff.com is another low priced option.

I use an autotopoff.com dual switch unit on my 40B and love it. I have never had an issue with their ATO's. They have no bells and whistles but they work and are VERY reliable.

I have a 36 bow with a 15 sump and use a gravity fed 5 gal jug with a $25-30 float valve system and it is great — reliable and not dependent on electric.

I’d personally get a used 3155 on marketplace or eBay and use that, then you’ll have some extra parts as well. They can be had for around $90-150. If you’re sure your sensors are good, you might even be able to find one with a bad optical sensor on eBay for ~$50. Just make sure the controller is functioning properly. The sensors are easily unplugged and swapped by simply opening the controller housing. I run a used 3155 that I repaired and will soon be installing an additional float switch in my sump to shut off my skimmer, ATO, and eventually a roller filter when the water level rises as as extra insurance.

I use a Auto Aqua Smart ATO LITE on my 40b.
It's definitely budget friendly at only $45. but it's a single optical sensor unit.

I have not had long term experience with it, but this working well for my 20g so far. Always a risk with any ATO system, but this included everything but the 5 gal bucket. I just wipe off the sensor with every WC.

OP, I’d be interested in buying your broken 3155 for parts, which would contribute to your budget for your replacement. Check your PM’s.
