Best camera for corals without breaking the bank?

Its very beautiful in a tank with opening and closing its polyps to hunt planktons.

Forgot to mention I lost my whole tank this morning. My 3 year old decided to feed the fish bleach last night. So I'm starting all over again tomorrow. The joys of parenthood.

Just came across this thread. Sorry for the tank crash. Hope you get it turned back around and all, but I also hope you addressed the bigger issue here which is a 3 year old who has access to bleach.

It was left on the washer. He actually never gets into anything. But he watched me add water for weeks on end without having an ato. So when he saw it. He figured he would just top it off for me. I've put child proof on everything. It does no good. He can get to just about anything he wants now. Move chairs to climb. Figured out all the child saftey devices. It's more about him knowing not to do things now. Because in a matter a seconds they can get into anything. I watch him like a hawk. But can't catch it all. The bleach is hidden high. And my tank is back better than ever.

I use a Nikon Coolpox AW 130. The good thing about it is you can use it from diving as well to 100'

I have used two cameras, Nikon D3100 and Olympus TG-860. I like TG-860, it can be submerged in tank.

I bought a Canon SL1 with the standard kit lens and it takes some very nice pics with some tinkering and a cheap tripod. I would recommend it:

Kessil A160we, supplemented by T5's. I'm only using the ATI 4 bulb fixture for only 2 hours a day (for like a mid day effect) currently. When I snap my pictures, I only use the Kessil at 100% intensity and 100% color (the whitest it gets).

That's nice, but I want a dedicated camera with interchangeable lenses so that I can use a nice macro lens. But I'm pretty sure that you know that.

When I got them about 8 yrs ago they were called button polyps.

These photos make a great case for this camera! I haven't been overly impressed with the photos my S5 takes, and would like a cheap camera that does "well enough". The Nikon AW 120 certainly seems to fit that category. I'd prefer to have a decent point and shoot over the DSLR for ease of use and portability/versatility, and of course the cost...

Did you ever end up getting one? How do you like it?

Nikon AW120...from an "all things considered" standpoint - price, adjustability, accuracy, and ease of use...you will not find a better camera. It's $300+tax!
