Hey fellow reefers!
I want to get into fragging some of my corals and was wondering what are the best coral dips out there. I have Coral RX and Revive but want to get suggestions from people who have more experience. I heard a lot of people use iodine. Is there a difference between Iodine and Coral RX and Revive? I have a birdsnest I'd like to frag and some zoas to start out with.

Thanks
K

Sounds like you are just dipping your existing corals that you frag. If that is the case then you are not looking to get rid of pests but for healing purposes. Or do you have pests which Bayer as DBL pointed out is what I utilize
For healing I would utilize the Revive, Coral-RX, or Iodine if you so desire.
Personally I have not found a need to dip after fragging but I am not a production line :)

Great point Chris. Classic case of selective reading on my part!

PS just from experience I found my ZOA responded well to CoralRx but a fairly quick dip is really all that is needed(30 second to a minute and then a dip in clean bowl of old tank water or new). Did this when some of my zoa were not growing and small, it is like steroid :)

I have on occasion dipped Acros in Iodine when showing health issue. Just cup of tank water with few drops Iodine. Again just a quick dip is what I did.

I do not have revive so not tried

Sure other more experienced fraggers will drop some notes.. hopefully

Used to use bayer but saw a lot of necrosis, went back to RX, have yet to be sold on others..

OK thanks everyone! All the suggestions really help. What brand of iodine are you guys using?

Thanks for the suggestion on the Bayer as well. I always wondered about it but never tried it. I always used revive before dropping in new corals I purchased. I will give it a shot.

So I'm looking for something to dip my corals in after I frag them. Everyone keeps saying bayer. But isn't that used more for dipping new frags that you buy or get from other people before introducing them Into the DT?

yes its a pest dip. bayer kills bugs. some dont read to the bottom of the paragraph. :)
Not all corals need an antibiotic or cleaning after fragging. Personally I would not worry about it. I have a lot of tyree birdsnest accidental frags that grow beautifully. and I routinely just glue zoa polyps all over my tank.
Lugols Iodine is the most common reef iodine. Btw. sometimes I use it if a coral on a plug or easy rock is unhappy. My bottle is 5 years old:D
