I'm sure there's several threads on the topic, but I'd like to know what the current topic brand is in the market. I was thinking either Buckeye Supply or Sprectrapure, but have heard good things about Bulk Reef and Filter Guys too. I'm honestly confused and need to do something quick.

From what I've read, I want to add another stage to my setup but not sure where and what to use. I'm thinking a silica buster to help keep the phosphates down?

I made the mistake of going cheap with a Coralife unit and it's terrible. The di resin goes out after a couple months as I'm sure the membrane is crap. My phosphates have risen in my system and I've determined my RO system is a big part of it. The finished water comes out at .05 on my Hanna Checker with new carbon and resin. I dont know if it comes out 4/1 ratio, but I'm sure it's pretty close if not more.

AZ Desert Rat, chime in please. lol

I just got maxcap 90gpd from spectrapure and love it. Been working great now for a week. Well built units and fully tested before being shipped out. BRS are ok but IMO get wha you pay for.

The Spectrapure MaxCap is easily the best RO/DI on the market by far. No other vendor uses 0.5 micron absolute rated filters, specially treats the individually hand tests each and every 90 GPD high rejection rate RO membrane then guarantees it in writing to be better than 98% rejection rate or custom blends every ounce of their DI resins fresh in house based on thousands of hours of lab and real world testing. The MaxCap uses two different DI cartridges so it outperforms and outlasts any other.

One more question, did I read somewhere that you think flushing the membrane was pointless? I saw there was a spectrapure system that flushed automatically every hour of use and at shut down. Does that matter to you? My unit is so bad now my phosphates are starting to rise just from topping off my water. lol

Spectrapure is now building systems with a reduced waste ratio, rather than the normal 4:1 waste they have systems with 3:1 or 2:1 waste ratios. If you have softened tap water and low to normal TDS then one of these might work for you. The reason the have the flush is they have reduced to continous flush the waste ratio provides, this allows you to make up for the flush lost with the 4:1. In this case the flush kit may have some value.
If you don't have soft water or low TDS I would stick with the normal 4:1 waste system so the membrane stays clean and lasts.

I own their MaxCap UHE system myself which also has an auto flush but is different in that it uses stored DI water to perform the flushing and really cleans the membrane up since DI is agresive and trying to attract anything it can.
