Best Denitrification Blocks for your sump

Hi guys

I’ve been in the reef hobby for just over 5 years and only recently purchased a new aquarium with a sump. For years I have run sumpless.

My question is there are so many choices when it comes to adding denitrification bricks/balls and other media to your sump. What’s the general consensus out there today? Which products deliver solid results?

I’m already running filter floss, socks, and a skimmer.

You can use whatever media you want. I just added some extra rock to my sump, because I had it on hand.

For a actual denitrification zone, you should probably look for a reactor and small pump to control the flow going through it.

Many different opinions but I feel everyone would agree you can add live rock as a media.

There are different kinds (even Brightwell has them for different chores) but some have issues associated with them. Switched from marine pure to Brightwell because I had a large sole in aluminum after adding the Mp (although it could have been from the Fritz brand salt too. I never did figure out which caused it)
