Best dosing pump and why

looking for a new dosing unit. What is the best one and why?

If you use an Apex, the DOS is spectacular. The ease of adjusting the dosing is unmatched.

How many dosing heads do you want? What features are important to you? Do you want WiFi?

Kamoer X1 pumps are pretty slick, very small, Bluetooth, linkable with additional X1, not that expensive - if I was in the market I'd probably try one.

I have a Dosetronic and it's great, but I wouldn't recommend it without an Alkatronic as the biggest selling point is them working together to control dosing based on Alk. I'm sure a Dosetronic would be fine standalone but you can accomplish the same thing for less.

Do you have to use a special reservoir with it or can you use any jug?

You can use any container with any dosing pump. Whatever fits best if the space you have, my advice is to go as big as you have room for so you have to refill it less.

The more sophisticated dosing pumps let you set a volume for the reservoir and an alert for a certain amount of remaining volume so you'll know when you're low.

You can use anything, I use Nalgene bottles. After you calibrate the heads, you enter the flow amount into the software and program in the reservoir size. Then it will keep track of how much fluid is left in the container for you.

Here are my food grade storage containers. $5 a piece. I drilled a hole in the sealed lid and ran a rigid air line tube into the container. Nice little pop open lid for filling without disturbing the dosing line and cheap!

I use BRS 1ml/min dosing pumps (inexpensive but reliable) - I’ve had two for over 4 years, and they each work 4 hours per day. I’ve bought 5 more since and haven’t seen a failure yet. For dosing containers, I use 1g water jugs - it’s easy to poke a hole in the lid for dosing lines. Make sure to replace the water jugs every year though since they can develop leaks along the seams over time (happened to me at the 2 year mark).

I'll be another one to nod to the GHL 2.1, Absolutely love mine, SO many features, outstanding build quality, fantastic app, certainly the most flexible option out there. Much cheaper than the DOS, especially if you dont have an Apex already.

Another thing not mentioned much is the fact that GHL SA Dosers can actually control up to 16 Dosing heads, so you can purchase one SA unit and control slave units (Which are even cheaper) all without a controller at all. Why would you need to control 16 doser heads? Well when you throw a KH Director in there and an upcoming Ion Director as well they come in handy. IMO anyway, you really can't beat them.

I’ve read that the ghl 2.1 is difficult to set up. Though I don’t have personal experience with that yet. But I’ve also read once set up it is great!
