I was going to use wet live rock but because of the possibility of pests and the high cost I've decided to go 90% dry rock and 10% live rock.
Anyone who has bought dry rock they really like can you let me know where to look for a good quality dry rock please?
Also is there the same pest risk with live sand? Is there much benefit to using live sand or should I just go for dry sand?

There are quite a few dry rock suppliers out there. A couple that I've used is reefcleaners.org they supply some great dry rock. The bulk reef supply dry rock is also a good choice.
Recently I got a box of Real Reef Rock and loving it. Comes in colored to give your tank more mature look than the traditional white dry rock.
Live sand has a low to almost no risk of introducing hitchhikers. The bags sit in warehouses and stores for so long that any hitchhiker that may make its way in is long dead.

I've worked with caribsea life rock, in original and the shapes. The shapes were awesome, you get a great variety. One tank I've done is just that rock with live sand. The colors on it look great. And you dont have to see the really ugly stage, like when you use the white base rock.

Thank you for your help.
So would this also mean the sand is no longer really live and wont have much benefit?

It'll be biologically active, but any worms, or critters will have starved out by the time it reaches your tank.

I looked but I'm in the UK and cant get the stuff from bulk reef supply or reef cleaners shipped here.
I'm stuck between Marco rocks which are £4.95 per kilo or caribsea which is £7.99 per kilo.
Has anyone used Marco rock before?

I would go the caribsea route then ;)

Quite a few folks have used this rock in US. It goes under a different name in UK, but it is same rock. Only thing that needs to be done with it is to wash it really really really well, as it has a lot of dust and so on.

Here is US equivalent with lots of reviews and pics
