I don’t think there’s such thing as “bad” euphyllia. Some common things to know:
- Frogspawn and hammers
do sting just like torches do. they just don't pack a punch the way torches do.
- Some torches enjoy higher flow, some hate it. I prefer not to run the risk and all of my euphyllia sit in Low to moderate flow areas.
- As
@Kellie in CA stated, branching hammers are preferred over wall hammers. The are easier to frag and also easier to care for over wall hammers. The difficulty that comes with fragging wall hammers is really the reason they’re considered more difficult to care for.
- Cristata torches are great! But just know that they won’t extend their tentacles very much in comparison to torches/wall hammers.
Everything will grow once established and happy. But it’s hard to predict which corals will take over your tank in comparison to others since corals
are animals and one can’t quite predict how an animal is going to behave/adjust to a new setting.
Keep in mind that the majority of euphyllia prefer low to moderate flow, and while they aren’t too picky about lights — good lights are always a great investment! As always,

do your research on any coral prior to purchasing.
