I recently set up a frag tank plumbed into my big system and I want to add some fish to it. Ideally for algae and possibly pests. (hope I don't get any but yeah)

Tang and wrasse? Specific species?

What size is the frag tank? A sixline or coris wrasse would be good for pests, and if the tank is smaller maybe a blenny for algae. Even in a bigger tank I vote blenny because neither of my tangs touch algae unless it's on a clip lol.

How big of a frag tank? Turbo snails are beast for GHA. 6 lines wrasse for pests?

Depending on size, I would reccomend looking at any bristletooth tang for green algaes, 6 line wrasse for pests, and a lawnmower blenny for hair algae. Lettuce nudibranchs or flatworm eating nudibranchs would also be helpful additions along with an assortment of other snails.

Add a helichores wrasse .... they eat red worms and nudibranch (so I hear)

Could a tang retire to your display (assuming frag tank is part of a larger system), if so you could use one and move it when it got bigger. Bristletooth are good for detritus but not so great will longer algae, I also wouldn't add one if you went for an algae blenny as they are notorious for picking on them due to their similar diets. Zebrasoma seem less efficient at eating algae than a rabbit fish so foxface might be a better option.
For pests I'd go for a six line, pair of pink streaked wrasse, yellow chrysus halichoeres or similar small halichoeres species. If you took the six line off the list you could have multiple wrasse.

For algae, a blenny is probably your best bet. Foxfaces and rabbits may nip coral, and 50g is a bit cramped for a tang.

If you will have sand in the tank, then you can do some of the Halichoeres species, if not, then a small colony of possum or pink streak wrasses or a single specimen of the genus Pseudocheilinus.

My frag tank when I set it up will be fishless as a quarantine for coral and inverts so as not to introduce parasites to my DT. Just a thought! :)

Sounds like blennys and same species of wrasse im gonna do some research then stsrt the long qt.

Careful with blenny if you plan on keeping SPS in the tank. A lot of the algae eating type are known sps nippers

I did a Kole Tang and Sixline for my 40g frag. My bristle tooth in my DT is quite the mower.

Yellow Coris - nudi's / spiders / Scuds
Elongated Dotty Back - Worms, pods & Scuds
Coral Banded Shrimp - All of the above
Mexican Turbo snail - Eats all Algae
