Best Fish for Aiptasia

I'm aware of that. I'm going off the success my lfs had with them. I really can't think of any truly reef safe aiptasia ewtwrs that won't go after other nems or clams, perhaps even coral
slay em (risk other inverts) or spray em (chemicals or glue) both have risks, but I say its better to spray em

I have a big Aiptasia issue in my large system, and I know you mention no chemicals, but Red Sea Aiptasia X works if you use it correctly. I’ve just used a whole bottle in one go and it works fine. They don’t generally spread.

Ive also introduced 30 Berghia to get to all the difficult to reach areas (its very deep!)l they work, but are expensive and I know you mention there maybe not an option so I appreciate that.

There are the fish you mention and I have a Copperband but the problem is it’s very hit an miss and depends on the individual etc.

Assuming you can reach most of them, the best method I’ve used is Aiptasia X

You ‘just’ used the whole bottle, they will be back and hard :) that stuff allows them to send out seed before they die. hope the berghia are ready.

I appreciate all the input. However this thread is for fish and fish only, I know and have used all other methods , some work wonderfully some not. Not the point of this particular thread, fish only :):)

My filefish cleared all of the Aiptasia in my 120. He was very small when I first got him. I did not see much of a change to the Aiptasia population. Once he got a little bigger, I definitely saw a drastic reduction. He was so good at clearing all of the Aiptasia out that he started working on my rock anemones. I quickly took him out and placed him in my other tank which also has some coral. As far as I can tell he has not touched a coral since.

Molly Miller Blenny ,,
A bit of a myth, I think, with very little evidence to back up the claim. My molly miller is a voracious eater, but it did nothing to aiptasia in a very lightly-fed tank. The hype is great, but the reality may be disappointing. Another hit-or-miss aiptasia controller.

Hello,

What are people’s thoughts on best fish for Aiptasia besides Copperband? Looking for something relatively reef safe, looks like Kleini or filefish, any others?

Berghia and shrimp are not an option.

edit no Aiptasia Concoctions either
I used to break off pieces of Salt creap and stick the salt in the mouth of Aiptasia. They would shrivel up and die by the next day. Didn't spread them in my tank... it was a really bad infestation but after a month of doing this all of the Aiptasia was eradicated.

How do the chemicals spread the infection? Aptasia x seems to work well and others just use lemon juice, kalk paste or even boiling water in a syringe.
When you poison apstasia it release asumingly eggs , it knows its dying. If you get a direct hit your good but if you have an infestation he is correct a miss fire will increase smaller apstasia

Really old thread but I've been using aptasia x over 2 years now to randomly kill indescriminently and with ruthless precision any aptasia I can see and reach in my tank and I don't see any signs that they blast eggs all over my tank . However, if you leave them be there is a good chance they will multiply for sure.
