Made a trap modeled from an expensive one that videos have been floating around about. Things needed:
Large clear plastic cup (Wendy's/dunkin etc)
Pool noodle
Magnet set
Fishing line

Cut the pool noodle and glue it to the rim of the cup. I used hot glue but you could use reef epoxy or super glue gel. Can drill some small holes to be able to add food etc or so some of the water drains after your catch.
Glue a magnet to the bottom of the cup. Not something heavy. Cup needs to float up at a good pace. Might be some trial and error involved.
Then you're some fishing line or string to the other magnet so you can pull it off from a distance.

Attach the cup with the magnet in your tank. Add bait and wait for the right one to find it. When it enters pull the magnet and it floats to the top with your fish in it.
Leaving you enough time to run up to the tank screaming I got him I got him! And look around to see everyone looking at you like your nuts.

Took 3 days to get my flame angel out. Most of the others I could have caught on day 1 or 2. Flame was most in trusting.

Nice. =) I've been struggling on trying to make a door for my fishtrap that's able to close shut. Your post reminds me that I don't need a door. Just flip the opening side straight up. Fish are stupid and only try to swim down. Thanks!

Very nice. I am a bad DIYer, so I purchased a trap. I may have to try this trap.

I'm gonna add I could have caught any fish in my tank with this. Including a big purple tang that was bigger than the cup and could barely squeeze into it lol. Not really sure how he turned around to get out but he did. Lol

I wanna thank @Triggreef for saving me money.. was about to order online until I saw this. Worked like a charm
