I currently have a magfloat and noticed it made a small scratch on my new tank today so I tossed it.
Looking to see what everyone recommends. I have some waterlines from when I was filling up the tank that are bugging me. Is there a brush or something that I can scrub the glass and not worry about scratching it?

Thanks!

Tunze care magnet is the best out there. I run two wide blades on mine instead of one wide and one narrow blade. I find that it makes cleaning faster and easier. It is the only mag cleaner that I will let go near my tank.

Tunze care is great. But you need to consider a few things:

  1. Expensive
  2. The magnet is very strong
  3. Purchase replacement felt pads for outside magnet - suggest getting a set of inexpensive microfiber cloths to put between the outside magnet and glass
  4. Purchase replacement blades for inside magnet
  5. If you accidentally lose magnetic grip when you switch to the next panel it is a pain in the behind to get out -- it's heavy. I picked up a maxspect gripper(?) just for this purpose so I don't get my arms into the tank.

Outside of that I like it because you can get into the sand and not worry about grains getting between it and the inside glass. I've not considered another magnet for the last 6 years since getting the Tunze Care Magnet Strong.

You need to buy the floatie bit addon :-)

Mine just floats

@gbroadbridge it's a float addon?! I thought it was just a fatter grip. All these years...
All the new ones ship with it automatically.

Also +1 for tunze care magnet.

there's different ones for different Glass thicknesses, and you can buy some felt for about $10 that will last you a lifetime and you can use for the care magnet, magnetic frag racks, viewers, and just about anything that rubs against the tank that you don't want to scratch it.

For hand cleaning I use magic erasers. I like the “flipper” max float for a magnet one on thick glass. Just make sure you don’t get any sand caught in it.

I agree with the magic erasers, but I had nothing but issues with micro scratches using the flipper (in a BB tank). Not sure if the scratches were coming during the flipping process or what, but I pitched two different ones in the trash.
