Newer tank with only a pair of clowns so far. I'm ready for my next fish, and was thinking a goby/shrimp combo. I was thinking yellow watchman, but it looks like they get too big. When I filter by tank size, it looks like wheelers shrimp and orange spotted could be choices, but I'm open to feedback. What goby and what shrimp would you recommend, specifically?

I have an orange spotted goby and love him. I also enjoy the yasha goby and the orange striped goby.
Regardless of which goby you pick you want a randalli pistol shrimp over the tiger pistol.

Why do you prefer the Randall shrimp?
They stay smaller than tigers which makes them IMO a better option in a smaller setup. I’ve seen a large tiger pistol (must’ve been 4”) and they give me the heebee jeebees. I also think they look a lot nicer than tigers.

Holy smokes! didn't know they got that large. I have a Randalli/candy cane myself and this they're awesome, so I totally agree.

I think the goby/pistol shrimp pair is fascinating to keep!

I love the Hi-fin Red Banded - they're pretty much my favorite.

The Yasha Goby is awesome too but they're more expensive.

I've never kept one of these Tangaroa gobies but always have liked their appearance and they stay small.

Whichever goby you get make sure there is a tight fitting lid on the tank without any openings they can fit through. These shrimp gobies are jumpers - as bad a jawfish.

Hi fin and a Randall's would be perfect!

I expect my main display tank to be set up in the next 3-6 months. Would a small yellow watchman be ok in the 24g for that long?

I really like the orange stripe and orange spotted, visually, so those are good substitutes, for me. AND, the wife really wants a Yellow Watchman in DT. Can you have two gobies in a 200+g?
