Best Gyre for Nano Tanks

Hey all! I have a Waterbox Peninsula 25 and am looking for a Gyre pump for the tank. I’d like to know if anyone with a nano tank is running a Gyre pump, and if so, which one is best? I know you don’t need a Gyre pump to get the flow pattern of one, but they’ve always interested me so I’m curious about getting one!

The tank is in a bedroom so pump silence is a big importance to me and I’d like to know everyone’s experience with how noisy the different brands are, granted this is a nano tank so the pump probably won’t be run over 50%.

I run a Jeabo ow-25 in my 20 nano cube. It has 2 wave modes and a random mode. I run it in random like my other 2 systems. I like the small footprint and it can move more water than I need.

I run the slw series ( also jebao ) and can say that I have never heard any noise coming from it.

Its quiet. Im a Tunze guy and started running them in my 120 and 45 frag systsm. The controller is better than Tunze, imo.
The nano is all sps and only 3 weeks old. 17 frags and 2 colonies all from my other systems.

There was an ice cap product. The 1k gyre. However it got discontinued. Anyone else know of a small gyre pump? I like the laminar flow of gyre pumps more than the powerheads

I, too, am looking for a nano gyre. Everything on the market seems too big for a 20g.

I run the slw series ( also jebao ) and can say that I have never heard any noise coming from it.

I can from one of mine but I think its because the rubber doesn't properly fit it (the rubber is too shallow for the magnet). Jebao isn't known for quality control from my experience and what I have read.

I've had a jebao and an icecap gyre and both lasted about a year before breaking.

Both were great until then though.

I'd just recommend being sure to clean it regularly. Which I didn't do, and was likely the cause of the problems.

They were both silent.

How is this gyre working for you I was jusssttt about to buy one myself. Easy controls?

I have bought three of the Jebao ECP-50m gyres. It's a single-sided version that maxes around 792gph. I like them. A lot. My only issue is that, of the three I have, two are noisy as &%#@. One is pretty quiet (but audible), but the other two are loud. So loud that I just ordered two new "normal" pumps to replace them with.

It sucks because I really, really like the flow I'm getting. But when you can hear them over the TV, something is wrong. I suppose I have one quiet-ish one, so I could keep buying them until I found a second quiet-ish one, but that's an expensive pain.

I should note... This seems to be specific to the small single-sided gyres. I have a few larger ones (ECP-70m) and don't have the noise issues.

I know on my larger Jabao gyre if I have the propeller in backwards or switched around they make a lot of noise but if assembled correctly its virtually silent.


Would you say this 1 ECP-50m is too much flow for a softy 10g waterbox nano?

Probably too much. I only ran them on 45% in my (36") 30L.

I disassembled them a few times, cleaned with citric acid, etc. They wouldn't quiet down for me.
