Best hang on overflow box?

Can't drill the tank
But what's the best hang on overflow box? That's quiet, reliable, and doesn't take up a lot of space for a 57 gallon cube? This tank will be in my bedroom so quietness is key

Lifereef overflow, no personal experience with running one but was considering an overflow for my set up before drilling and the lifereef overflow was by far the best one out there I could find. Try googling lifereef overflow failures and you won't find any, at least I sure couldn't.

Like was mentioned in your other thread I've been using an Eshopps pf-800 for almost 2 years with no issues at all. I tested it by causing a siphon break on my system to see what would happen and the return section would run dry before flooding the tank. I tested what would happen during a power failure and the siphon started right back up after the power was turned on. The only thing it was noisy with the pipe that comes with it so I made a diy Stockman Standpipe and it's very quite now. I kept on hearing horror stories of floods and such but I don't see how that could happen if it's set up right. If I had to do it all over again of course I would drill my tank but there is nothing wrong with the HO overflow if it's matched to your systems volume.

Any idea on the new skimz overflow? There's a really good review on it.

Don't know about the skimz. I see it uses an aqualifter pump for the siphon. I was looking at the CPR overflow which also needs an aqualifter when I was looking, but was hesitant because it needed the pump for the siphon, if the pump failed it would break the siphon and the fact that I needed another outlet for the pump, which I didn't have and didn't want to add another wire to the mess that was already there made me go with the Eshopps. I figured I'd try the Eshopps and if I didn't like it would get the CPR. Well, after almost 2 years with the Eshopps I see no reason to switch.
Quietness is important to you so I couldn't tell you how quiet the skimz would be. The Eshopps right out of the box isn't quiet, a Stockman Standpipe is a must, but once you get that fixed it's very quiet. I have my tank next to my Den so it needed to be quiet for watching TV. Once I got the Stockman installed it stopped the gurgling slurping sound from the overflow and the only sound I hear now is the very faint sound of the water going down the drain hose.

I agree! the new Eshopps are great. They are quiet, efficient, and last a really long time as long as properly maintained. Like all thing in the tank. It being a 57g I would say use their PF-300. It is a great one that is rated for 75 gallons. Here is a link for one on our site. I have used this same model before on a friends tank and he loves it.
