Aquamaxx, JNS or Deepwater. They're pretty much the same made by JNS.

I'm using this reef octopus Hang on protein skimmer and it does really well on my 55g tank. If you have a heavy bio load expect to clean it out a good bit.

I have eshopps hang on the back. I have bought two so after it gets dirty in 6 months i change them and take my time soaking the dirty one. Two years still working great. Does need cleaned every six months. I have also broke two eshopps skimmer due to my own stupidity called and told them the truth. They replaced both free at two different times.

Been looking at octopus seems to be good.

I have the Aquamaxx Cone series HOB skimmer which is rated at 90g heavy stocked 90g and it's a beast.... pulls out gunk every moment causing my water clarity to be crisp. Have fun shopping.

How loud is it? been looking at this one but my tanks in my room. dont want to much noise.

I can't hear it when I'm walking around the room so it's fairly quite but I imagine you would hear the bubbles in your room at night.

Before going to 250g with reef octopus I had eshopps hob on my 65g. Had it for 2 yrs with no issues. Took it apart once a year. Ran great. Also used it for wet skimming /water changes.

I am still fairly new but I have had an eshopps PSK 100H on my 55 gallon fowlr for a little over a year and it has done great. I went with it because I could not afford a reef octopus. I have heard that reef octopus is one of the best though.

I figure i could have it on a time and turn off when i go to bed. think that could work? or would it mess up anything for the skimmer? never owned one so going off what others know.

yes i think ill be going with octopus, seems to be the best out of everything. thank you for the info.

Deltecs are probably the best around. I have the Aquamaxx HOB cone skimmer and love it when it works. I have a problem with it overflowing. If I don't take it apart every couple of weeks and clean it, it is very inconsistent with bubble production. I also hate how you can't take the plumbing apart where the air enters the pump. I think that is where gunk builds up but you can't get into it to clean it out, they have it all glued together. Also, my propeller broke last year and I could never find one, so I had to buy a whole new pump that included the propeller. My last gripe is the bubbles. Mine puts out a lot of large bubbles into the tank and it keeps my lights covered in salt creep. I contacted Aquamaxx about the bubble and their answer was to direct the outlet in a different direction so maybe the bubbles wouldn't cause so much salt creep.

I have purchased a Deltec MCE600 to replace it and hope to have time to make the switch this weekend.

Aquamaxx ive herd a lot of problem with them. but do a good job.

3 yrs here using Aquamaxx with no issues. Took down my nano recently but here's a pic of my Q3
