What are everyone's thoughts on the best current heaters? BRS has released their line, Innovative Marine has a cool, but expensive heater set up. What's the best?

Inanimate titanium rod (Schego).

For me the cheapest one available is best :)

Got tired of spending high $ for the "good" heaters only to have them also fail prematurely. Now I just go cheap and use a temp controller/alarm.
That's been my direction the last 5 or so years, too. I thought I'd reach and see if anything has changed or if there's a new "king".
I usually use 2 Eheims with a controller and replace them every year or so, just to be safe.

An aqueon heater paired with an inkbird controller is my go-to. Always have a backup on hand and if you have space running two controlled heaters is even better for the added redundancy.

BRS 1200 watt titanium heater works great but the controller is no good should be wi fi yeat 45 days in that broke have it on standard mode hopefully it doesn't cook all my fish so far so good till I can get this resolved with them

Wow, that didn't last long at all. I'm sorry to hear that.

sucks because the actual heating element is awsome just the controller

Fluval E-series, a bit on the expensive side but they've been running for almost 4 years without issues. I like having the digital temperature read-out too, green=good, red/blue=bad lol

I use finnex hma (analog) with a modified baylite temperature controller (siliconed with ro tubing for temp sensor) so far i like it no fails. You have to mod the sensor as its not saltwater proof and will rust. Going on 2 years. I can also extend the wiring for the temp sensor as its just 2 wire.

I used finned hma now for 5 years. I replace them once a year or two.

My BRS titanium heaters didn't even last 4 months and cost twice as much as an Eheim. I have them plugged into an ink bird. What controllers is everyone using? What its he best way to set it up so that you can possibly notice when one goes down. Both of mine went down before I noticed anything was wrong.

I will have to say, and members know that I have said a few things against BRS as of late, BUT, the 300w heaters I received from @Bulk Reef Supply are AWESOME!!!. I ordered the BRS controller with 2 300w heaters and also ordered a 3rd 300w heater for my 225 gal tank upgrade. After seeing how the 2 300w heaters are working, I have no intention of adding the 3rd. The 2 300w titanium heaters have no issue heating up my 225 gal tank in an hour or so. Now the 3rd is just a spare. Below are the temp probes from my GHL and Apex.

I do feel the title should actually read best heaters of 2020/2021. 2022 is not here yet and thus a mystery.

I also go with cheap. I currently have hygger for my 280g tank & I have 2 other orlushy ones for my smaller tanks. I’ve only had these for a few months though but so far so good.
