Hey there. So I have had some swings in my temp over the last month with a basic 100w heater. Although the heater on amazon has great reviews I am having some trouble calibrating it and an getting uneasy with the swings. Dont want to kill off everything in the tank.

Currently have a ...

.

Now there are a few options to upgrade from here. Dont need more than a 100w due to location and temp inside home.

1. Aio controller/heater like....

Hygger:

2. Seperate controller/ heater like...
Inkbird ( would use original heater)

Just wondering which is safer. I would assume the seperate controller has an edge since its 2 different components. But not sure if that has a real advantage.

Any thoughts?

Had as low at 76 and up to 82 when I caught it. Second time I caught a creep up to 82+. Dont want to chance not catching the creep up a third time.

I think a better investment would be a heater controller. I know BRS sells them and they work pretty great. Keeps temperature in a solid window and controls the on off function. If your temperature swings are high in the summer, a fan on a timer i a great tool ;)

JBJ True Temp Titanium. I have one and no issues with temp swings. Comes with controller, heater and temp probe.
+1Great heater . I have a 500 watt JBJ in my sump on my 80 gallon downstairs below grade where I keep room temp in mid 60’s most of time
