Best HOB Skimmer ?

I'll check out these noted skimmers.

Our 55g tank was bought from a older woman that wanted out,and was ment to be a tempory tank untill we got the 125g set up, and that was 9 months ago. Lol....(you know how that goes) !

It is not drilled, so I have one of the two Aquamax HBO's on it.

Lol,...yes, money matters.

Versus other skimmers, $300 isn't bad, but for a HOB ?

I owned the aquamaxx hob1 before talking to Adam during one of his sales and I picked up the mce400. It blows the aquamaxx out of the water hands down. More dry nasty skimmate, dark coffee brown, plus it ate up my co2 scrubber media about 3x as fast, put in a fresh airline to the skimmer because I was blowing through a reactor full per week.

I'll add this. I ran the Deltec MC500 for years and it was a work horse. My only regret was I sold the MC500 with the setup.
I'm running a BK for now but your right, Adam at Battle wrote the book on customer service.
You get what you pay for and I ran the Aquamaxx HOB skimmer and it was good too and never had any issues with it. I do not consider going from a Aquamaxx to Remora an upgrade at all. JMO... :)

What does a great HOB got to do with price vs in sump skimmers?

I run a $9oo BK in sump skimmer so $3oo for a top of the line in sump skimmer is not going to happen.

Going through CO2 media is not a measure of skimmer performance. That's for another thread.

Can you explain,...

Just mean thats it's a HOB and assume they won't work as well as the sump type ?
But, technology has changed a lot. Like LED'S etc.....

I just had to jab ya. :)

But... the Deltec MCE400 or MCE600 are top notch skimmers. The MC300 is not worth the money?

Don't know about the newer Tunze's but the old 9002 was a real piece of crap.

Lol,....I tried the 9002 and I did not like it either. Was very disapointed being a Tunze !
Could never, get rid of the zillions of micro bubbles.

I may look for a good used Deltec.

+1
I don't miss the bottom falling out with the pump either.

I'd take a big Tunze any day of the week but that 9002 scares from their small skimmers.
