Best inexpensive heater/controller combo???

Just keep in mind that you still only have one controller with no backup. That appears to be a better quality controller than most heaters come with but it would still be prudent to have some sort of backup.

A couple of side notes - it looks like that has a ground pin, so you are likely grounding your tank with the heater as well. Also, it appears the heater is completely separate from the controller, meaning if the heater itself ever dies you can replace it an plug it into the same controller - a nice option!
I have my system designed with 2 heaters versus one and they each have an independent controller. If one sticks on, it wont cook my tank and if one sticks off, it wont underheat too much. Theres also 4 total components in line to fail before a crash.

And you know thats funny you mentioned the grounding. I didnt even think about that. I do have a grounding rod already.
I cant confirm of these heaters would ground the tank though.
Thanks for pointing that out [emoji4]

$12 ebay temperature controller, a 6 foot extensions cord, and five minutes of wiring.

Been using this for 3 years on my little tank, no issue. I am also a fan of titanium heater rods with no temp controls on them... nothing to break.

Inkbird itc-308 wifi with titanium heater or eheim Jagger. Just turn the heater up a little so when the controller activate it will be on

Sounds like the bayite controller temp probe isn't compatible with saltwater but I've seen where you can replace it with Crocsee NTC 10k 5 meters temp probe for about $8. Anybody done this and what were your results? Pic of controller and alternative temp probe below.... I've also heard of folks coating the probe in silicone.

This is what I'm using on my 20g Anemone tank that's in my workshop. The room has the house heating system in it so the ambient temperature fluctuates quite a bit. I'm able to run the Finnex heating element and the cooling fans with this controller. It keeps the temp within one degree of the set point.
