I have my system designed with 2 heaters versus one and they each have an independent controller. If one sticks on, it wont cook my tank and if one sticks off, it wont underheat too much. Theres also 4 total components in line to fail before a crash.Just keep in mind that you still only have one controller with no backup. That appears to be a better quality controller than most heaters come with but it would still be prudent to have some sort of backup.
A couple of side notes - it looks like that has a ground pin, so you are likely grounding your tank with the heater as well. Also, it appears the heater is completely separate from the controller, meaning if the heater itself ever dies you can replace it an plug it into the same controller - a nice option!
And you know thats funny you mentioned the grounding. I didnt even think about that. I do have a grounding rod already.
I cant confirm of these heaters would ground the tank though.
