Hey there,
i got a pair of 8 year old gold stripe maroons oringally wild caught from a friend the other day while they're eating like pigs -- literally pigs and swimming around fine I noticed a little white stringy poop on day one and a little repaid gill movement so just to be safe I wanna clear them of external and internal parasites. I plan on adding these too my broodstock and have a lot of money in them so I want the best most effective yet safe possible method possible
TIA

Tough question. Metronidazole and Prazipro (API general cure). There will be other opinions. Personally I would rather wait a bit longer in observation and ask the friend about new additions or concerns in his tank.

The stringy feces could just be due to a change in diet, but the rapid breathing is a separate issue, are they open mouthed breathing? Can you post a video so I can get a respiration count?
I agree with @gentlefish that API General Cure would be a good choice as long as the fish are in a situation where it can be used safely (no inverts due to the metro)

No they arnt open mouthed ive only noticed it 2x and it’s about 1.25x normal pace. It might just be tjem getting stressed cause new tank and it’s not easily the most fun thing to see a 6’6 brown dude walk up to them . I was thinking this as more of a preventive/cautious measure

Yeah, if the respiration rate rises but then lowers, it is probably due to activity or stress - I only worry when it goes up and stays that way....
