Hey guy so I just bought a 90 gallon tank that I’m planning on making into a fish only system. I know I technically could use any light but I want the tank to look nice and the fishes colors to pop. Also who knows I may end up changing into a reef so Ideally I want a pretty powerful light to possibly grow corals in the future if I end up going that route. The tank is 48 inches long and about 24 inches deep and tall. Any suggestion for lights to get? I would like to spend less than $250 if possible.

I use these on my sons puffer/aggressive tank and they make the colors of the fish pop. They will also grow about any coral you want later on if need be. being as we did not care about ramp up and down we just got the basics. Below is the link to the newest model. But in reality, any black box light will work. I just prefer the SB Reef over some of the others, as they seem to nail a better spectrum then the cheaper ones found on Amazon. With a 48" tank, you could do 2x 18's or a 32" basic. Another option is a MarsAqua 300w from Amazon. I have seen full on SPS tanks that do well under them and have used them in the past. Just note: these things are stout and can burn corals when you get to that point. The lens create some hot spots that need to be looked out for, or you can remove the lenses for a better spread and blend, just know that doing that will reduce par some. That can be countered by turning the lights up a little also.
