Best lighting type for anemones?

Here's the thing: People can successfully grow corals/nems using T5, MH, LED, even VHOs ..... you just gotta be adept at using your lighting of choice. ;)
How nice to hear that. We all know that though. I agree with you.
Some people think LEDs grow corals better than MH/T5s, like the people who are selling and made that PDF.
Did you know? They actually say that the LEDs they produce grows corals BETTER than T5s and MHs. Period. Go read...
Now... I have the right to disagree! And we all have the right to ask why they did that unfair comparison placing the T5 fixture up high!?
Some other people all over the world, who aren't selling neither lights, like me and many of us, think MHs and T5s are the best to grow their corals. Period.
Go search! You'll find...

I wish I had a time with Dr. Sanjay and could ask some specific questions to hear from him in regards the word "BEST" specifically about growth and color of corals, comparing with their natural health and shapes that we know about, when comparing the 3 types of light. I say natural because that should be the goal... to reproduce the reef at home.
Not comparing savings with electricity... not comparing which runs cooler, not about ramping up and down the controller lines in the computer, not thinking about that neat, clean and convincing PDF!!!

But you know what I really wish the most?
...That many of the people who agrees with me would say it and not be afraid of anything.
Because we shouldn't. So many people going back to their old T5 and MH fixtures all over the world... now they know how much money it costs to change for something that needs a constant upgrade and never ends...

In Europe they have LEDs that produces very close results to what the T5s do.
Is that worthy? Perhaps in a very long run? I don't know... Maybe to save the chillers/electricity in a huge tank..
Here I prefer to enjoy my polyps with my T5s.

Grandis.

Deader? And I thought my English was bad! Lol. And it ain't my first language.
Dig into some BRS videos, where they talk about p lips and its diffuser plate. I think alot of led peeps will come up with. It has the same effect of t5s at diffusion. LEDs do grow corals but I have seen some sickest tanks with t5s as primary source. LEDs being more directional source and lacks diffusion, color and spectrum blending. It could also cook up a coral. Ref Dana riddles on PAR.
If I had to go for a nem tank, I'd go with t5s if I'm buying commercial fixture. Or leds if I'm building my own coz I exactly know what I want and how I want it.
LED diodes are denoted by bins, there is whole lot of difference in them. Most of the commercial fixtures do not source the highest quality bins coz it's not economical viable. Most of them not all of them. Then there are this controllers which totally messes and complicates things up. Lastly lack of color blending or diffusion. Hopefully this will evolve with time.

On a lighter, slightly off topic note.. Where does everyone go for more unique anemones? I cant quite swing the $500-$1000 specimens but i would love to pick up a really nice ~$150 - 200 type. I already have a basic Rainbow bubble tip with speckles and lightning bolts (as i like to call them) but i would really like a deep red or the purple base with deep red rose bubble tip. Or a really nice green one. Not the typical mint green but like green slimer green.

I can get those kinds of anemones, but not at that price point you're looking for. Except maybe the green one.

I've had decent experience with AI Prime, Radion Xr30 gen 3, and now 8 bulb T5 + reefbrite LED combo. I went through many ups and downs with my anemone's health. While I always thought it was a lighting related issue, I have now realized it was always flow and water quality issues.

I know that's not what you were initially asking for, but just don't forget about those two. Good luck

Sorry to Necro but, what color combo is best for anemone? For example T5, blue, violet, white, etc?

Thanks.
