I’m looking for a good live sand the sand I used last was super fine and busty I’m looking for a sand that good sized

This may help

Tropic Eden Reef Flakes have less dust than the Caribsea, ime. I prefer Tropic Eden over all others. You can even save skmencash and skip the live stuff. Just use dry sand. It works out just fine and is cheaper.

Rinse your sand first, it wont hurt live sand, and dust wont be an issue.

Special grade sand is best and wont move around as much as others as stated above. Now if youre looking for diversity you might check these guys out.

not sure of the size and im sure coming from the gulf it will be multiple sizes not as uniform as the bagged stuff.

Anyone uses this sand pros and cons of it just wanting a small layer in the tank more for looks.

I ordered 20lbs of this last year. The size was generally similar to special grade. However, there was alot of rock rubble in my batch. This wasn't really a bad thing, as it was covered in coralline algae. Not sure how much life is really in this stuff though. I didnt see any worms or pods in mine, which I found kinda odd if it is in fact collected from the ocean. It was just damp sand shipped in a few grocery bags. Just my experience with it.

I do love the rock from gulfliverock.com. great stuff, imo.

That’s disappointing there was no worms or pods. I plan on ordering some for my next upgrade. Yeah there rocks are amazing. So much life in them. Definitely don’t get that from a bottle of bacteria lol.

Does anyone have an opinion on this sand? Thank you in advance

I used fiji live sand in my last tank and it blew all over the place. Didn't like it at all. Special grade in this and couldnt be happier with it. Grain size is good for shrimps and gobies to make tunnels.

Carib-Sea Arag-Alive Special Grade sand is fine enough that it looks good and small enough that flow won't make it completely flow around everywhere and dusty.

Here are your grain sizes. It will depend on what sort of flow, where its pointed, as well as critters as to what you should use.

My vote is Special Grade! It's big enough to not blow around, but small enough for things like sand sifters and sand burrowing wrasses.
