I have a biocube and filtration is difficult, decided to turn the display into a planted tank to help with nutrient export. Any recommended plants or places to buy plants that do not require a CO2 tank?

Thank you!

Assuming sw not fw planted but co2 threw me off

ulva, gracilera, caulerpa if you dont live in ca, red ogo, hypnea

99% of plants don't require CO2, it just makes them grow faster anyway

I'm in TN, sw yes sorry. I just read somewhere that some plants needed a CO2 tank. Maybe I found myself on a fw thread by mistake.

Only macro algae I have ever kept on purpose was Dragon's Breath.....very easy to keep.

Some Caulerpa species are legal in California which tend to be easier to control (ex. prolifera and paspaloides). Other options are Cladophora, Enteromorpha (now under the Ulva genus), Codium, Halimeda, Rhipocephalus, Udotea, Penicillus, Botryocladia, Bryothamnion, Halymenia, Haliptilon, Coralline (encrusting, plating, and branching), Dictyota, and Blue scroll. Note that none of these are true plants (while Mangroves and seagrasses are and may be added to an aquarium).

I have heard good things about Gulf Coast Ecosystems, ReefCleaners, eBay, Rusalty, Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory, AlgaeBarn, Seahorse Savvy, and KP Aquatics as sources for Macroalgae and Mangroves. Seagrasses can be purchased at Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory as well as Aquaticus Plants.

You can read up more on macroalgae on the Algae lab (AlgaeBarn’s blog), Marineplantbook.com, and the List of Marine Aquarium Plant Species on Wikipedia.

Thanks got some macro including dragons breath! Appreciate the help everyone. Hopefully this will start to outcompete the cyano.
